Depulso Puzzle Room 2 Solution
Here's how to solve all the block pushing and pulling puzzles in the second optional Depulso Puzzle Room and collect all four treasures. The Depulso Puzzle Rooms are not accessible from the outset. To be able to open them, you first have to lead the spell Depulso from Professor Sharp's Assignment 1 and then complete the The Hall Of Herodiana side quest, which follows after The Helm Of Urknot. To begin the quest, head to the Astronomy Wing's Charms Class Floo Flame and talk to Sophronia Franklin.
To find the second Depulso Puzzle Room, which is located in the Belltower Wing, fast-travel to the Transfiguration Classroom in the Astronomy Wing. The room is located in the Egyptian section that you may have already stumbled upon. You can also get there by going to the Belltower Courtyard Floo Flame.
Upon arrival, from the Floo Flame, head to the right and through this door to the left:
Inside, turn left and open this small door.
Top open Depulso Puzzle Room 2, use Depulso on the brass opening mechanism on the marble wall.
Depulso Puzzle Room 2 Easy Solution
Don't want to take any daring jumps and get frustrated falling into bottomless pits? We've got an easy step-by-step solution that lets you collect all the treasures in this puzzle room without much hassle.
There are three treasure boxes you can get in this room -- as well as a Collection Chest at the end. You'll want to go for the one clearly visible on the left, as you enter, before attempting to explore the far end of the room.
In addition to jumping an climbing, you have three actions you can use to solve this puzzle room:
- Acio: to move a piece towards you
- Depulso: to push a piece away
- Reset: hit the magic spot in the back of the room to reset it to its original layout
The fastest way to get to it is to pull the upside-down L-shaped piece from the far-right corner (East wall) towards you, and then summon it over to the left side. Then simply cast Acio and summon the T-shaped piece towards you while standing on the upside-down L. You should now be able to make the jump to the lit-up alcove on the left (North wall) -- but the jump is a little tricky as you have to leap on the diagonal.
Room 1 - Configuration 1
Treasure Chest 1
If you struggle with jumps, here's a slightly longer solution that makes it super-easy to jump across:
Cast Acio on the T-shaped piece to bring it close to you. Hop down to the two blocks in front of you and target the following piece inside the nook in the wall:
Pull it towards you with Acio. It's actually two connected pieces -- and they're stopped by one of the stone blocks in their path.
It looks like this from the side: Face the two blocks and Depulso / push them to the back of the room so they land on the wall next to the upside-down L piece.
It should look like this:
We're trying to get those two pieces connected to the floating block on the left so we can create a small J-block. Stand slightly to the right and then Depulso / push the two blocks into the left corner (North-East). You'll notice the blocks connect into a small J. Like this:
Go back to area with the T block (the West wall) and target the J-block and cast Acio.
It will move towards you and get stopped by these blocks below:
All that's left to do now is to push the T-block forward with Depulso towards the barrier you've created with the J-block. You can now easily climb on top via the blocks you've lined up. Stand on top of the T and face the alcove with the treasure box.
Jump across and your character will pull himself up to the ledge. Open the chest for a random equipment piece.
The door behind you will open and the room will reset.
Now all that's left to do is to get to the next room. Sure would be nice if you could just summon your broom, right?
Room 1 - Configuration 2
To exit the reconfigured room, stand on this block and face the T-shaped block.
Cast Acio to bring the T block in close towards you.
Hop down and look at the block from the opposite side.
Cast Actio on the right face of that single block (second level, left) and move it to the right, like so:
Now target the block from where you're standing and cast Acio on the side that's face you to move it to the opposite side of the room.
This is what remains on the side with the T block:
You'll want to move one more block, the one that's tucked away in the back on the bottom row. Target the front:
And cast Acio to move it across the room. Make sure you don't stand in its path -- otherwise, squish!
Turn around and you'll see the two blocks on the opposite side:
Let's turn those disconnected blocks into a proper ramp. To do that, hop on over to the right side of those blocks, across the gap:
Cast Depulso to push the bottom row (two connected blocks) underneath the lone floating block.
From where you're standing, turn towards the South wall. Located the double-block that's recessed into the wall.
Cast Acio to once pull it toward the immovable stone block.
Walk to the other side of the blocks so you're facing them like this, looking East:
Push it towards the wall with Depulso.
Now stand on its right side to push it towards the small ramp you've already created.
Once you cast Depulso on it, it'll connect.
Return to the other side of the room and face the combined blocks from the West wall, looking East.
Cast Acio to pull the combined block towards you. It'll get stopped by the stone blocks.
You'll have to get that ramp to the South wall. So stand here and cast Acio on its exposed smaller side:
And it'll be out of sight, Acio-ed to the left.
The T block is next. Target its left side to move it over to the left (aka: the South wall) as well.
If you move to the South wall side you can now see both your ramp and the T block lined up along that wall.
All that's left to do is to pull the T block towards you and the small ramp piece, by casting Acio.
You have created this little collection of cubes. What you can't seen from this vantage point is that there's a convenient way to climb up now, on its back.
Approach the block tower from the left and climb up.
From there, you can easily climb to the top and get to the exit up top.
That's it. You can now access the next room. There are of course a thousand other ways to solve this room -- but build a tower like this lets you navigate to the top without having to complete tricky running jumps.
Room 2
Treasure Chest 2
You're now standing in the second chamber within Depulso Puzzle Room 2. Like the first one, there's a magic reset to return the room to its starting layout if you mess up.
Hop down one level and stand in front of the vertical pillar that you can move. Cast Depulso on it to move it to the back of the room.
There's an H-shaped collection of movable blocks over to the right. Just turn 45 degrees to your right and target the front-left single block and cast Acio to pull it towards you.
The configuration will look like this after you've moved it. The H block is hidden to the right, which means the path is now clear to move the tower block you initially pushed back over to the right side where the next treasure chest is found.
You can cast Depulso from here on its left side or move over to the right side of the room as shown in the screenshot below and cast Acio to move it.
You can now jump over to the pillars and make a daring leap from the tower to the area with the treasure chest. If you struggle with the jump, note that it's also possible to move the H-shaped blocks closer to the tower while you're standing on it. You simply target an exposed block side while on top of it and shuttle yourself over. You just have to remember to move it back afterwards.
Whichever way works for you, go grab the treasure chest on top.
After you've grabbed the chest, you can now focus on the second chest in this room, which is on the opposite side.
Treasure Chest 3
You now have to deal with the flat long block on the north side of the room. Stand on the H block and cast Depulso to move it to the northern wall.
Then cast Depulso one more time to move it to the right (it'll be stopped by that stone block to its right.
Now target the small exposed side pointing south. Cast Acio to move it to the middle of the room. The northeastern corner should be completely empty now, like this:
The middle of the room now looks like this:
Now you have to get the tall tower of blocks you used to get to the previous treasure chest and connect it to the horizontal block in front of you.
Just climb on this stone block and look to the southwest corner and cast Acio on the tower.
It'll move to the left.
And you'll have this messy little collection of blocks to work with:
You can see that it can act as a way to climb up a level.
But you need to summon the connected blocks towards you (north) by casting Acio first.
And then cast Depulso on the blocks to move them toward the eastern wall, right underneath the alcove with the next treasure chest.
You can now easily climb on top of the lower block:
And jump to the higher block and leap across to the chest:
Open the third chest and collect its (random) contents.
Get to the Exit
You can solve this room without resetting the configuration. Hope back down to the platform at the north side of the room.
Target the L-shaped piece in the back of the room and move it via Acio to the right.
The cast Depulso on the exposed block to the front and push it towards the back of the room:
It's now free to move left. Move over to the left -- best by climbing on top of the nearest collection of blocks you used to get to the chest a minute ago and cast Depulso to move it to the far left corner. This is your view of the south-east corner of the room after moving it. It should be completely empty of blocks now:
You can now move your tall collection of blocks to that empty corner. Target the front of it, facing south:
Cast Depulso to move it away from you in the southeast corner.
You now have to bring that same collection of blocks over to the right. Stand over here and target its right side and cast Acio.
Now bring the other (L-shaped) block collection back. Look toward the right side of the room and cast Acio.
Now target the right collection of blocks and Acio them towards the taller tower blocks by targeting this side:
You've now connected all the blocks into a ramp.
The last thing to do is to shuttle yourself over to the other side. The easiest way to get there is to jump on the H block.
You can only go one way. Stand on this block and target the exposed recessed block's only exposed side and cast Acio. This will pull the H block over to the left -- from the north to the south side of the room.
All that's left to do is to jump across to your block platform and climb up on the tallest block. You can now easily scale the southern wall.
Climb up to get the Collection Chest -- the ultimate reward for completing this tricky puzzle room.
The door is open. It's time to get out.
Congratulations, you have completed the Depulso Puzzle Room 2 and collected all the chests.
There are many different ways to solve these puzzles, but hopefully this walkthrough worked well for you.
