21 Tips and Tricks for Getting Started in Stellar Blade
- Stellar Blade’s combat can be very unforgiving, so it’s crucial to learn enemy attack patterns as soon as possible. Thankfully, many of the enemies that you'll face will be present throughout the game, so you’ll have plenty of opportunities to analyze their attacks, plan a strategy, and adjust your timing to take them down effectively. While it is possible to go out swinging for the fences, we highly do not recommend this method, as button mashing will leave you vulnerable to incoming attacks.
- Controlled timing is critical when executing combos such as Onslaught or Incursion, as rapidly mashing buttons won't get you far. Instead, aim for a more measured approach as you carefully time your attacks and look for openings—such as when enemies take a brief pause after performing a flurry of attacks—to take advantage of. Just remember, though, Stellar Blade isn’t as slow-paced as some other games, so don’t delay your follow-up inputs by any more than a second, or else they won’t register.
- Additionally, certain attacks can be canceled immediately upon being performed into a guard or parry. But, if you button mash too much, you may miss the timing window for these opportunities.
- Within the Settings menu, you'll find various options that can be adjusted to make your experience in Stellar Blade easier and more accessible or even more challenging. Some of the most notable settings include:
- Under the Gameplay settings, you can adjust EVE’s ponytail length, when the game provides hints, and even the ability to loot nearby items automatically.
- The Accessibility menu also offers worthwhile changes, as you can turn on QTE Auto Success, meaning QTEs will always succeed automatically. You can also adjust your auto-lock when attacking, adaptive trigger modes, and replace the fishing controls, so combo inputs are turned into single 1-time inputs.
- While you can reset your Skill Trees at any given time with an SP Initializer, it’s worth mentioning that you can test most subsequent Skills in the Training Room before you purchase them, potentially saving you from wasting your hard-earned Skill Points. As long as the skill icon features a lock symbol, you can test it under various challenges and conditions in the Training Room.

- As tempting as it may be to rush through the main story, trust us when we say it’s worth taking a break every now and then to complete any new Side Quests that may be available. Side Quests not only provide plenty of experience towards Skill Points, but they also have some neat rewards in the form of Gold, Vitcoins, Nano Suits and cosmetics, and even activities such as Fishing.
- It’s also worth mentioning that Side Quests don’t expire, so don’t worry too much about leaving Side Quests incomplete as you progress with the story. To avoid any spoilers, we have spoiler tagged a crucial note regarding story progression that may be worth a read if you want to achieve 100% completion in a single playthrough. Tap to Reveal
- Save some time and avoid unnecessarily speaking to every NPC for new dialogue, as only those with a green blinking circle on their character will offer new or meaningful dialogue, such as quests or information.
- While not marked by your drone when scanning areas, you can destroy wooden crates found throughout the world for Gold and unique resource materials. Just be warned, some crates—especially those found in the Wasteland—can be hiding enemies.
- On that note, Guardians are another enemy that can lead to some surprises, as they tend to imitate things in their environment, such as statues. So, scan any areas before approaching statues to help prevent any unexpected encounters.
- Under the Data Bank menu, you'll find a list of all the Naytibas you have encountered. When viewing more information about them, you can not only learn ecological information but also crucial combat tips for taking them down effectively.
- A few minor mistakes can quickly lead to your downfall in Stellar Blade. So, it's always best to be prepared for those moments when you fall in combat by having a WB Pump handy. This nifty little device can revive you in the same place when killed in battle. WB Pumps will set you back 1,500 Gold and can be purchased from most Supply Camps and stores. Just be warned, WB Pumps have a use limit during each encounter, so you won’t be able to die at the same boss and keep reviving yourself continually, no matter how many WB Pumps you may have.

- When collecting Documents and Memory Sticks, make sure to give them a quick glance, as there’s a good chance they could contain further story details or helpful information on where to find or open special crates containing cosmetics or plenty of Gold.
- Be sure to investigate everything—most interactable items will feature a white dot—as inspecting certain items can sometimes earn you experience points.
- Enemies will glow yellow when entering a new phase, and the camera will usually lock into place and zoom in to show them powering up. During this animation, you won’t be able to perform any attacks or deal any damage until it has stopped, so don't waste your Beta or Burst Energy. Instead, use this opportunity to get some distance, heal up, or even set up mines on the battlefield to reduce their replenished shield energy.
Exploration Tips and Tricks
- Save yourself some time and activate each Supply Camp, whether needed or not. Trust us, this will prove incredibly handy later on.
- Use your drone to frequently scan your surrounding environments, as it'll help you spot enemies that may be out of view, ones that have cloaked themselves, supply boxes and robots that contain collectible resources and upgrades, materials you have yet to collect, and even databanks that may be hard to spot. As you progress through the story, you’ll have the option to upgrade your drone, which includes an option for increasing the duration of each scan.
- Omnibolts are used to upgrade and enhance your Gear Socket and can be found in Legion supply boxes that are typically found at the end of hidden paths. Despite what it may seem, Stellar Blade's open world is quite vast, as there are often paths leading behind buildings or areas tucked away on top of rooftops that can be easily missed. So, watch for any paths marked with yellow paint, as they will almost always lead to something worthwhile.
- The ability to sit and rest isn't just exclusive to camps, as you'll also find benches and chairs throughout the world to recover small amounts of HP and refill your Rechargeable Tumbler.
- Once you reach the Wasteland—the first major open-world area—we recommend prioritizing the activation of the Solar Tower. Not only will this allow you to activate Supply Camps, but you’ll also find the Camoflauge-Type Exospine at the very top of the tower. This Exospine is an excellent option early on, as it decreases enemies’ field of view, allowing you to stealth kill enemies with Ambush much easier, and once fully upgraded, restores 15% of Max HP upon successful executions.

- Additionally, after reactivating the Solar Tower, we recommend unlocking D1G-g2r's shop, which is located in the northwest part of the Wasteland. Upon completing his Plan to Clean the Earth Side Quest, you can purchase additional Upgrade Modules and rare resources, with materials dropped from machine-type enemies.
- Listen closely; if you hear a tinging noise, you may find a collectible Can nearby. Along with an audio cue, collectible Cans also provide a flashing glint that makes them much easier to spot. Collectible Cans aren’t always on the ground, as you’ll often find them when interacting with Fiz vending machines scattered around the world. Additionally, you can upgrade your drone further with the Can Detector ability, which makes a more audible noise when a Can is nearby.
- When you’re near a Beta or Body Core upgrade, you'll feel a slight vibration from the controller. The stronger the vibration, the closer you are to the upgrade pick-up.
- Much like Supply Camps, Phone Booths—marked with a red phone symbol when scanned and unactivated—allow you to fast travel between different Phone Booth locations. But, before you can do so, you'll first need to activate the Phone Booths by interacting with them. Once the waypoint is activated, you'll be free to travel between the booths as you please. Like Supply Camps, we highly recommend activating any Phone Booth you spot, as this will save plenty of time in the future.
