If you're a fan of Harry Potter world, it's worth looking into it, but if you're a gamer who loves a good story, well-written characters and interesting sidequests, brace yourself.
Most of the efforts went into the visual stuff and design of the world so it would look believable. However, the plot, the overall scriptwriting, the dialogues, the characters, even voice acting are very mediocre and sometimes even bad. This game is full of chests but their contents are mostly rubbish.
All in all, the character you're playing as is an avatar. A nobody. You don't have a history before Hogwarts. Noone really explains why you're so special and talented. The world won't react to your actions even if you're walking through the castle killing everyone you meet. And, if you're a Ravenclaw, you won't even get a chance to solve a riddle when you enter your house's common room.
Among the good things, I personally loved flying on a broom and caring for the beasts. Also, the missions with Poppy Sweeting have the most beautiful level design, majestic beasts included.
Hogwarts Legacy gives lots of things to explore. The designers and artists must have taken years to implement all the details in the castle. The battles can also be fun. Especially the final one is epic.
I spent more than a hundred hours in this game but some things I played through in irritation or boredom. It's a one-time mediocre game for me. Won't recommend but I don't regret playing it either.
Only an 8/10 overall score, but 10/10 regarding just pure fun. So much customization. Flying on the broom is so awesome. The combat is really great also. The story was “meh” and the side missions are too repetitive with not good enough rewards for completing them.
But in terms of the lore and the visuals, it was an amazing experience. Any Harry Potter fan should play this game.
It's good, especially compared to all the other HP games we got before this, Hogwarts Legacy is the immersive wizarding world we've all been craving for. BUT... it could've been more. Hogwarts itself is enjoyable but as a whole the world felt lacking, wish they focused on Hogwarts more (like including Quidditch) rather than the repetitive puzzles scattered in the open world.
I want to preface this by saying I am 100% against the author and will be separating them from the game and this review .
Overall it's a fun play. Story isn't anything amazing but it's fun to play though. There are some beats that are really well done and others feel repeatability and unoriginal.
The world is beautiful and really impressive. I found running around and exploring more enjoyable than the main story.
The first 10 - 15 hours is great. After that it gets repetitive and a unrewarding.
The gameplay is really easy (even on hard) and pretty unrewarded after the first 10 hours.
A definite treat for any HP fan although a bit disappointing towards the end.

A great foundation for what's hopefully a future franchise. And the best realization of the world to date.

Totally overhyped. Your skill set is too overpowered in combat, infinite heals and dashes makes the game extremely easy. Every mob, boss looks and does almost the same moves, the only thing that was making the levels harder was the number of spawning enemies. Generally the game is based on about 10 enemies assets. Most of the collectibles items are only cosmetic what discourages you from exploring. Side quests and actions are the same 5-7 repeatable activities with the same mobs to kill or similar puzzles to solve. Side stories are written like for kids and your choices does not really matters. The main one is not that bad - worth playing, but I hardly do not recommend doing anything besides that, every other activities are boring and useless in the context of progression. However the design of the world and Hogwart is amazing.
