How to Trade
While the idea of a self-sustaining community sounds ideal in Manor Lords, it's not entirely possible in the early game. You won't have enough resources to feed the whole town, enough armaments for your entire Militia, or enough income to upgrade your Burgage Plots. It's important and necessary to rely on trade in Manor Lords, and here's how!
How to Trade in Manor Lords
While you likely won't construct any of the available trade buildings immediately, they're available from the start. You have access to three:
- Trading Post: The key structure responsible for importing and exporting trade goods throughout the region.
- Livestock Trading Post: A trade structure responsible for livestock, including horses, oxen, and sheep.
- Pack Station: An internal trade structure that allows you to trade goods between regions you own using the barter system. For instance, you may trade four pieces of meat for a single piece of ore so long as the values align.
You'll primarily spend time trading via the Trading Post, importing and exporting goods to boost Regional Wealth and ensure your township receives enough supplies to survive the winter. To trade in this manner, you must first construct the Trading Post, then select the "Trade" tab when clicking on the completed building. Here, you can choose which goods you wish to import, export, or enact full trade measures, along with how many units to trade, and find details about the total costs.
- Import: You'll spend wealth to bring in resources to your village from outside sources.
- Export: Choosing to export an item will allow you to sell any excess in exchange for capital.
- Full Trade: When set to Full Trade, you will both import and export an item until you have the designated amount in storage.
How to Establish Trade Routes
As mentioned, you'll want to import a lot of various goods to keep your settlement in Manor Lords thriving. But it's not enough to just order goods. Without a trade route, the entire trade mechanic comes to a screeching halt.
To establish trade routes, open your Trading Post, then select the wagon icon beside the item you wish to trade. If you have the Regional Wealth, it will establish a trade route. If not, you must wait until you have enough. Once you have a trade route established, select the eye icon to track your trade network. It will notify you when a trader comes to your settlement.
Furthermore, if you intend to export goods, it's important to, for starters, have a family or two working at the Trading Post. Secondly, specify how much surplus you wish to maintain in your settlement. The excess becomes trade goods shipped out on the trade routes you establish.
Trade Tips
- Ensure you construct your Trading Post in a central position between the King's Road and your Storehouse or Granary.

- Reinvest the incoming Regional Wealth from trade to improve your Burgage Plots with item-producing enhancements.
